MATTHEW HOLIDAY CONDUCTS FUNDRAISING AUCTION WITH THE FOOD NETWORK'S PAULA DEEN

Matthew Holiday of Holiday Auctions in Spartanburg, SC conducted a benefit fundraising auction with Food Network superstar Paula Deen earlier this week.  The fundraiser auction was held on Thursday evening, November 20, 2008, in Paula’s hometown of Albany, Georgia. The fundraising auction was for the benefit of Graceway Recovery Center, a local substance abuse treatment center.  More than 850 people attended the event held at Darton College arena which featured a silent auction, a dinner of southern favorites, entertainment by Paula Deen, and the live auction conducted by Matthew Holiday.

Holiday commented on the auction by saying, “It was such an honor for me to conduct this auction with Ms. Paula Deen. I was so impressed with her kindness and her passion to help Graceway Recovery Center and those that benefit from its services. She certainly received a hometown welcome from all those in attendance.”  Paula Deen’s husband Michael and son Bobby were also in attendance, along with several other members of her extended family.   

Matthew Holiday is a professional benefit auctioneer and is the founder of Holiday Auctions in Spartanburg, specializing in benefit fundraising auctions and real estate auctions. Holiday currently serves as the President of the South Carolina Auctioneers Association. 

Matthew Holiday has become the professional benefit auctioneer for many charitable organizations and schools throughout the country.  Holiday has also conducted the auctions at many South Carolina events, including the annual Spartanburg Red Cross Vintage Occasion, Auction for a Cause, Charleston March of Dimes Signature Chefs Auction, Columbia’s Heathwood Hall Auction, Charleston Catholic School’s Annual Auction, Festival of Trees, Lions Club Auction, Hands on Greenville Piggy Bank Auction, Taste of Nation Auction, and the Greenville Rape Crisis & Child Abuse Center Annual Auction.  Holiday was part of the first groups of auctioneers to earn the Benefit Auctioneer Specialist designation from the NAA and is a graduate of the Certified Auctioneers Institute.
