The Montessori School of Anderson has been doing a spring fundraiser for the past twenty-six years.  In the beginning we only had a live auction and in the past few years have incorporated both a silent and live auction.  We have used both professional and parent talent to play the role of auctioneer.  I believe that it is safe to say that in all of our years, we have never had an auctioneer who was so intricately involved in every aspect of our auction from item solicitation to the entire evening’s event.   

Your involvement in the silent auction as well as the live auction not only helped boost the attendees involvement, but your enthusiasm and energy made the evening fun and enjoyable for all of those attending whether they were actively bidding or simply spectators.  Your problem solving and willingness to troubleshoot during the event really made a significant difference when we ran into sound issues.  Also your suggestions prior to the event proved extremely useful from organizing our items, setting values, event set-up and the suggestion of a new software which prompted our purchase of the Auction Pay software.  The “blinkie” light raffle was also a huge success in setting an enthusiastic tone to kick off our live auction.

We had discontinued live auctions years ago based on our experiences with the previous auctioneer used.  This was one of the best auctions ever--the crowd was both entertained and energized and bidding was very lively. Adding a live auction to our silent auction proved to be a great decision; choosing to have Matt Holiday as our Benefit Auctioneer proved to be an even better decision.  We not only raised over 30% more funds than in years past, the fun factor was raised.  Our auction turned from an event that focused on mainly raising money to an interactive event that highlighted our mission and accomplishments through the Fund-a-Need, which gave guests an opportunity to learn more about us.

This is a letter of recommendation for Mr. Matthew J. Holiday and Holiday Auctions...In the first quarter of 2007, we had the unfortunate experience of a restaurateur who abruptly vacated the premise of a shopping center we manage.  After successfully releasing the premises, we were then faced with the challenge of liquidating the furniture, fixtures, and equipment to allow for a new tenant.

My wife and I had the recent opportunity to auction her father's home in Union, South Carolina, This home has been my wife's homeplace since birth and was the only home her parents had ever lived in so you can imagine the sentimental value on this home, We had tried to sell the home for over a year, please understand the economic situation in Union is at the end of the scale in the State and unemployment is the highest in the State, We came up with the idea to possible Auction the home, frankly , this was a word we did not like the connotation to at all, I called at least (5) companies in the area and did not get a good feeling in talking with their representative as I knew this was going to require a very serious person who can handle someone auctioning their old homeplace, A friend at my Barber shop was telling me about having to auction their relatives home and what a great job this guy did, I got the name and number and called Mr. Matt Holiday, He was very responsive in our initial meeting and I went home told my wife this is the kind of person we want handling this and she needs to meet Matt, We arranged this , met Matt at the home in Union and immediately we knew he was the guy for the job. He was very detailed, he explained everything to us, he left nothing out , there were no surprises and he actually sold the house for more than we had forecasted we would get for the house. We had absolutely no problems with the complete transaction and we closed in less than 30 days. I work with people all over the world and I can say with out any hesitation that Matt Holiday is a man of impeccable character who conducts business the way it should be conducted with integrity and honesty and handles himself very professional.
